Spruce Seven Lot 7

project

Green Canopy Homes, a progressive-minded developer of high quality homes, had a vision for a community of detached homes, all built with high performance techniques to showcase the benefits of energy efficiency and improve the quality of life of homeowners. On a compact site in SE Portland, across from Brentwood Park, this vision was realized, with seven structures, comprised of two different floor plans (three of one type, four of the other).

The project was Platinum certified by Earth Advantage, and each structure is designed to be net-zero energy ready. With the optional addition of a limited number of solar panels on the roof, the homes are so energy efficient that each could make as much power as it consumes over the course of a year.

The first floor contains an open living, dining, and kitchen area, with a half bath and storage space. Two bedrooms, a bath, and laundry are located on the second floor. The primary suite and a family/bonus room with a covered balcony are located on the top floor, with sweeping views and vaulted ceilings.

I love working with eMZed. They are one of the few mission-based architects with a wicked design eye, but also demonstrate discipline in a craft I’ve rarely seen in the industry. The results are beautiful, buildable and sustainable homes and spaces.
