Firlong Studio
The south facing ground floor of this addition to a 1920’s house includes a large vaulted room with a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a separate side entry. Connected to the main house via a door, it can be used as a family, entertaining, or guest space, or it can serve as an ADU. Large sliding doors open the space to the yard.
A writing studio on the second floor, accessed separately from the house, provides the owner with a quiet, bright space in which to work. Reclaimed Douglas fir is used throughout, and the metal roof, fiber-cement siding, and concrete floor slab make for a durable, low maintenance structure.
We hosted 25 people, and were amazed at how well the space, especially the high ceiling, was suited to the task.
